Pastor of Worship



The Pastor of Worship is responsible to the church, as supervised and directed by the Senior Pastor, working closely with the pastoral staff, for providing staff leadership to the entire worship ministry.  This involves assisting church program leaders in planning, conducting, and evaluating a comprehensive worship ministry in support of the mission and vision of the church. The Worship Ministry encompasses all aspects of worship including music, instrumental, praise bands, vocalists, drama, sign-art, youth and children’s music, and other uses of the arts. In addition, the Pastor of Worship will be involved in the full pastoral ministry of the church as directed by the Senior Pastor.




  • Lead the church in the planning, coordination, conducting, and evaluation of the Worship ministry.


  • Serve as a resource person and advisor to the leaders of the church’s ministries.


  • Coordinate Worship ministry events and incorporate such ministries into the church calendar.


  • Schedule music groups and individual activities for church functions


  • Collaborate with the Worship Leadership Committee to establish goals, organize activities, develop budgets, assign leadership responsibilities, and perform administrative processes.


  • Plan worship services in conjunction with the senior pastor and ministerial staff.


  • Meet with Worship Leadership Committee at least quarterly to evaluate worship services.


  • Keep abreast of weddings and funerals to be held in the church and provide assistance as necessary.


  • Be available to arrange and provide music for special services, and other church related activities in cooperation with the appropriate individuals or groups.


  • Enlist, train, and supervise the leaders and workers of the Worship ministry in cooperation with the nominating committee.


  • Give direction and leadership to the Worship Ministry activities of the visitation and outreach.


  • Supervise the maintenance of and additions to the music library; oversee and maintain musical materials, supplies, instruments, and other music equipment, including the sound and video equipment.


  • Keep informed of current worship methods, promotions and programs and utilize them where appropriate.


  • Coordinate the training and activities of instrumentalists and vocalists. Develop and train ensembles, orchestra, praise band, drama teams, sign-art, and other elements of worship.


  • Consult with the Worship Leadership Team to prepare annual budget for the Worship ministry. Monitor spending vs. budget.


  • Coordinate and provide staff leadership to church ministry committees and teams as assigned by the Senior Pastor.


  • Visit area hospitals on a regular basis under the direction of the Senior Pastor.


  • Cooperate with denominational leaders in promoting activities of mutual interest.


  • Be self-motivated, a team player, a person who cares about people and loves the Lord and His church.


  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
