Next Generation Pastor Overview:

Are you a disciple of Jesus Christ who personifies a growing relationship with the Lord? Do you demonstrate a love and passion for serving Him and making disciples? Do you feel called to carefully and prayerfully shepherd children, teens, young adults, parents, and volunteers? Ballardsville Baptist Church (BBC) is searching for such a person to serve in the role of Next Generation Pastor and help carry out BBC’s mission to impact the world with the love and message of Jesus Christ.

The Next Generation Pastor will serve as the chief communicator, biblical teacher, and leader of Next Generation Ministries, as well as provide spiritual, pastoral, and administrative leadership to all aspects of Next Generation Ministries (children, teens, young adults, parents, and volunteers). The salary is up to $70,000 annually depending on a combination of education and expereince. 

Qualifications:

  • A member in good standing (or willing to become one) of BBC.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Christian ministry, biblical studies, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent faith development and ministry as well as prior experience in growing ministry in at least two of the three areas: children, youth, or young adults.
  • Complete agreement without reservation of the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and BBC’s Articles of Faith.
  • A lifestyle congruent with the biblical qualifications for church leaders (1 Tim. 3:1-132 Tim. 2; Titus1:5-9).
  • Experience training others, building teams, discipling team leaders, and having fun along the way.
  • Demonstrates strong written and oral communication as well as interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain appropriate discretion and confidentiality.
  • An understanding of social media and how to use it to promote, train, and encourage BBC’s members and the public.

 

Responsibilities/Essential Job Duties:

  • General Ministry Leadership
    • Participate relationally with Lead Pastor and Elders to foster a culture of love, respect, transparency, and relational disciple-making.
    • Prepare and deliver biblically accurate, engaging messages on a regular basis, including Sunday mornings.
    • Participate in all scheduled staff meetings, staff development times, retreats, reading assignments, and team-building initiatives.
    • Assist church leadership and staff to plan and coordinate intentional opportunities for family-integrated worship, service, outreach, and events as well as assist with church-wide outreach, first impressions, and pastoral care.

  • Next Generation Ministry Leadership
    • Provide a safe, and friendly environment for children, students, young adults, and families to grow spiritually as multiplying disciples.
    • Teach the Bible with excellence, clarity, and authenticity, delivering scripturally grounded messages that apply to the everyday lives of students.
    • Work with Lead Pastor and Elders to ensure the Next Generation’s direction, goals, and ministries align with BBC’s overall vision.
    • Facilitate opportunities for students and young adults to engage with and be  an active part of the overall church ministry.
    • Be a continual learner in everything Next Generation as stay abreast of latest trends and best practices. Cast vision, recruit, develop, lead, disciple, and evaluate Next Gen ministry teams (e.g., a Nursery Team, a Pre-school Team, an Elementary Team, the Student Ministries Team, and Young Adult Ministry Team). and the ministry’s overall effectiveness.
    • Manage Next Generation Ministry data as well as creating and managing budgets.
    • Find creative ways to impact and reach into local schools.

  • Parent and Family Leadership
    • Encourage families through regular and consistent communication.
    • Provide opportunities for parents to grow in their ability to shepherd their own children and grow in their own disciple-making journeys.
    • Be a resource to help parents engage spiritually with their children.
    • Organize and participate in child dedications and baptisms.
    • Implement a strategy for partnering with parents to reach the next generation with the gospel, disciple them in their faith, and equip them to live as fully devoted, growing, and multiplying disciples of Jesus.
