They should bring a genuine passion for worship, a humble, team-focused attitude, and a commitment to membership at Blackjack Baptist Church. This role calls for a dynamic leader who values the church’s traditions while creatively leading worship that resonates with today’s congregation. While formal musical training and education are preferred, a wealth of experience and a heart for ministry will also be highly valued.

Principle Function

With the Pastor’s guidance and encouragement, or at the Pastor’s request, the Worship Leader is entrusted with the beautiful calling to plan, organize, coordinate, and lead the church’s music ministry. This role is rooted in the heart of worship, focusing on glorifying God, not performance.

Supervision

The Part-Time Worship Leader is a key member of the Paid Ministerial Staff, working closely with the Pastor to support and enhance the church's worship experience. Reporting to the Pastor for guidance and collaboration, the Worship Leader takes an active role in leading worship services and ensures all elements align with the Pastor's vision and direction.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Lead with passion by planning, organizing, coordinating, and inspiring the Music portion of Sunday morning worship and Wednesday night bible study, creating an atmosphere that uplifts hearts and glorifies God.
  • Partner with the Sound Team to thoughtfully prepare and manage the annual Music Budget, ensuring resources support a vibrant music ministry.
  • Supporting the activities, goals, policies, and traditions of the church and denomination promotes unity and shared purpose.
  • Provide visionary leadership for the Music program, nurturing growth and engagement among participants.
  • Keep the church family informed by sharing updates about the Music ministry during regular business meetings as needed.
  • Stay inspired by exploring new music methods, materials, and promotions, integrating them where they enrich worship.
  • Collaborate closely with the Pastor to select meaningful music that complements the message and theme of worship.
  • Keep the church informed by communicating music selections to the office before bulletin deadlines.
  • Prepare ProPresenter presentations with the Sound Team to ensure a seamless worship experience.
  • Share your talents by teaching and leading supplemental music ministries as time allows, fostering a love for music in others.
  • Work in harmony with the pianist(s), choir accompanist(s), soloist(s), ensembles, and Sound Team, setting clear expectations and providing thoughtful, encouraging feedback to help everyone shine.
  • Coordinate rehearsals and performances with care, communicating all special requirements ahead of time to ensure excellence and confidence.
  • Bring worship to life through special programs like cantatas and Christmas services, celebrating faith and community during meaningful seasons.
  • With help from the Sound Team, ensure the longevity of the music ministry by overseeing the maintenance of the music library, instruments, and license agreements.
  • Embrace opportunities to serve the church through additional duties as requested by the Pastor (or Interim Pastor), always seeking to glorify God through your work.

Hours of Work

The Part-Time Worship Leader is expected to lead Sunday morning services and Wednesday evening Bible study and coordinate rehearsals as needed. If unable to attend due to illness, vacation, or other circumstances, the Worship Leader is responsible for arranging a suitable substitute, subject to the Pastor's approval. In emergencies, the Personnel Committee may assist in securing a replacement to ensure a seamless worship experience.
