Buena Vista Baptist Church Lancaster, KY is seeking a part-time Music Minister/Director who has a sense of calling to work in ministry and endeavors to bring excellence to the church’s worship of God. Opportunity to lead and direct music on Sunday morning and Wednesday evening, VBS and special services. You will assist the pastor in planning congregational services of the church; be responsible for the selection of the music; conduct weekly choir practice and lead the other musicians. The requirements are 10-12 hours weekly for this salaried position. Buena Vista Baptist is a growing congregation with 200 in weekly attendance in northern Garrard County within 20 minutes of Danville, Harrodsburg and Nicholasville and 30 minutes from Lexington.
Part-Time Minister of Music Job Description
The Minister of Music position at Buena Vista Baptist Church is a part-time salaried position. The individual must have a sense of calling to work in ministry and endeavor to bring excellence to the church’s worship of God. This person is expected to work under the leadership and authority of the Pastor and in close conjunction with the pianist, musicians and choir. Salary will be commensurate with experience and duties performed.
Principle Function: The Minister of Music leads the church in a music ministry that will inspire and enhance congregational worship. Work in consultation with the Pastor to plan the Sunday worship and special services to ensure appropriate congregational and special music that enhances and supports the worship message.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and direct the congregational music at regular and special worship services.
- Plan, coordinate and evaluate a comprehensive music program inclusive of all age groups throughout the life of the church. This can include adults, youth, children, and special events such as Vacation Bible School (VBS).
- Assist the pastor in planning congregational services of the church; be responsible for theselection of the music; conduct weekly choir practice.
- Encourage and recruit members of the congregation of all ages to offer their musical talents to the church.
Personal and Professional Qualifications:
- Must be a born again believerwith a commitment to sharing Christ with others.
- Must be a member or become a member of Buena VistaBaptist Church.
- Music education or experience directing congregational worship andchoral groups in church worship settings or similar experience.
- Must possess good people and organizational skills.
- Must be a motivated self-starter.
Time Commitment:
The salaried position assumes 10-12 hours weekly to include Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings and an evening night for practice. Some weeks will include additional hours for special events such as VBS and community outreach activities.
