MISSION and OUTREACH PASTOR

Job Description

 

Reports To:    Senior Pastor                           FLSA Status: Exempt

PT/FT Status:            Full Time (benefits)                Pay Type: Salaried

Job Type:  Ministerial                                               

Expected Hours*:  40 hours                         

                                                           

 

Purpose:

The Mission Pastor is responsible to the Senior Pastor for evangelism, assimilation, world-wide and local missions. The position will be charged to develop a plan to reach people not connected with a church and develop a clear pathway for new Christians and guests to be welcomed and assimilated into the life of the church. This role will also lead the church in our worldwide and local mission efforts. Including community partnerships, mission trips, mission giving and promotion as well as working with various mission groups and organizations.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the church in reaching our city with the gospel through prayer, outreach, personal involvement, intentional digital presence, and working with our community partners.
  2. Develop a strategy to reach non-church goers most effectively with the good news of Jesus and invite them to church.
  1. Develop assimilation pathways for new attendees to become connected growing disciples who are active members.
  1. Equip members on how to share the gospel in their business, neighborhoods, families, and wherever they go.
  1. Oversee the churches hospitality ministry as a key part of an assimilation strategy including the welcome center, greeters, café, etc.
  2. Cultivate and support local mission partnerships while empowering and supporting WRBC members to serve in local missions in our community.
  1. Lead the church to SERVE and GO, becoming involved in mission support through prayer, offerings, and personal involvement through activities in the local community, state, national, and international mission fields.
  2. Lead the Mission Committee in the determination, evaluation, recruitment and administration with community partnerships and mission trips both locally, nationally and internationally.
  3. Will be asked to preach Sunday morning services or lead Wednesday evening studies on occasion.
  4. Communicate regularly to the church body (i.e. Business Meetings) regarding past ministry activities, plans and goals.
  5. Oversee budget for assigned ministry areas.
  6. Maintain regular office hours.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

 

* Weekly Hours is intended as a general range of time spent performing the job function during a typical week.  There will be occasions and special events where additional time may be required.

Expectations:

  1. Full commitment to the areas of responsibility and personal development.
  1. Be an active member, with their family, of Westport Road Baptist Church, including involvement in church activities, events, stewardship, and worship on Sunday mornings.
  1. Christ-centered behavior at-all-times (i.e. treating people with respect, compassion, and integrity) including any presence online or posts on social media.
  2. This role must be okay with change and adaptability as plans and strategies will need to be continually evaluated and tweaked.
  3. This role must establish strong working teams in several different areas to do the work of ministry. This role is more than just one person will be able to do effectively or sustainably. One critical metric of success in this position will be how many non-staff people are involved, equipped, leading, and working in these areas.
  4. Adherence with established WRBC policies and procedures.

 

Qualifications:

  1. A lifestyle that reflects a commitment to and a passion for Jesus Christ.
  2. Master’s Degree (minimum) or equivalent experience of five years that would include working as a Pastor reaching neighborhoods and people for Jesus.
  3. A personal and/or work history that demonstrates an affinity for ministry, specifically for working with evangelism, empowering others to serve, and assimilation.
  4. Ability to connect with diverse people not connected with the church.
  5. Be a positive team player.
  6. Self-motived and adaptable with strong organization skills
  7. Strong presentation and teaching skills.
  8. Proficient in a Windows-based PC environment, including Office365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  9. Comfort level with engaging people on social media platforms.
  10. Ability to leverage develop digital campaigns that reach beyond the church population.
  11. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  12. Proof of eligibility of employment within the United States and consent for criminal background check.
