Immediate Opening: Bi-Vocational, Southern Baptist Pastor
Caney Baptist Church in Pippa Passes, Kentucky, is seeking a bi-vocational pastor who has a personal walk with Jesus Christ and a passion to lead souls to Christ, preach/teach and lead the congregation in worship.
He must be a God-called, baptized Christian who is ordained and will preach and serve Christ through ministering to others and be committed to winning souls to Christ through personal evangelism. He must have a high view of Scripture consistent with Southern Baptist doctrine as outlined in the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, proclaiming the entire Bible as the Word of God. He must have motivational skills and the ability to communicate well with multiple audiences through preaching the Gospel, teaching, and personal counseling. He must meet the qualifications of 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.
He should be a servant leader with a passion to help build an effective, growing church by ministering to those in the church and reaching the community. Preference will be given to a seminary graduate or one with pastoral ministry experience.
Duties and expectations:
Weekly scriptural sermons, prayer meetings, Bible study
Willing to reach out in the community to unchurched youth and families
Coordinate Revivals
Able to lead, encourage, counsel, respect privacy, communicate well
Have Love and empathy for congregation and community
Have passion for believers and the unchurched
Church service area: Pippa Passes, Kentucky, Southeastern Kentucky, Appalachian area, small remote community with a small, private college which provides opportunity to attract students, faculty, staff.
Current attendance is 25 to 35, but has been 60 to 75 in recent years. We have few children or young adults and need to grow those numbers, particularly.
Caney Baptist Church was founded in 1962 and now has a new building.
The Church supports the Kentucky Baptist Convention and is a member of Three Forks Baptist Association.
We are a mission-minded congregation. We support a Food Pantry and encourage missionary service.
Alice Lloyd College is less than a mile from the Church and may provide opportunity for a bi-vocational position.
