Salary: $20,000-25,000

Hours: 20 hours per week

Job Overview

The Worship Director leads the congregation in meaningful and engaging worship experiences to glorify God and edify his people. This individual will oversee the worship ministry, lead musical worship, and cultivate a Christ-centered atmosphere that encourages spiritual growth and engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead worship services, introduce new songs and worship styles as appropriate for the congregation.
  • Oversee planning aspects of worship, ensuring appropriate equipping of team members and smooth execution of services.
  • Develop the weekly order of service in coordination with the senior pastor that is shared with all relevant leadership by the rehearsal prior to each service 
  • Lead and develop the worship team, including musicians, vocalists, and A/V volunteers.
  • Provide musical and spiritual guidance to team members.
  • Organize consistent weekly worship rehearsals with the worship team that prepares for Sunday worship and introduces and practices songs for future services.
  • Have music prepared and ready for the worship team before they arrive to rehearsal.  If a new song will be introduced at rehearsal, send out audio and appropriate sheet music to team members at least one week in advance of that rehearsal.
  • Oversee the design of the stage for worship services
  • Foster an atmosphere of worship through prayer, Scripture, and spiritual growth.
  • Collaborate with church leadership on worship planning to align worship with the overall    direction of the church.
  • Create and track the annual worship budget, assuring over spending does not occur
  • Be prepared, ready and arrive early for any special musical services or special rehearsals for those services.
  • Organize, maintain and update musical library.
  • Maintain musical instruments and sound equipment owned by the church and arrange for tuning and upkeep.

Qualifications

  • A strong and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Knowledge of basic music fundamentals with musical proficiency in singing and at least one instrument.
  • Ability to engage and lead a congregation in worship.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • A team player with a heart for mentoring and equipping others.
  • Familiarity with contemporary praise and worship music and traditional hymns.
  • Basic knowledge of sound systems, ProPresenter, and worship technology (preferred).
  • Must affirm and be aligned to The Baptist Faith and Message 2000

  • This is a part-time position with flexible hours, including Sunday services and rehearsals.
  • Agrees to abide by all personnel guidelines outlined for staff members 
  • As part of the core staff team, participate in developing, tracking, and evaluating goals through ministry reports that align with the MCBC mission and vision priorities
  • The Worship Director is expected to participate in church life beyond leading worship.
