Shepherd Staff is honored to be working with Balboa Baptist Church in Hot Springs Village as they search for their next Lead Pastor. Balboa is a warm and friendly Southern Baptist Church seeking to bring Christ to their community. 

The Lead Pastor is responsible to the church to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach the Biblical revelation as the inerrant and inspired Word of God, to engage in and oversee pastoral care ministries, to provide administrative leadership in all areas of church life, and to act as the lead minister of the ministry staff and support staff.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Biblical Preacher and Teacher: A Southern Baptist committed to the inerrancy of Scripture, skilled in expository preaching for diverse audiences.
  • Relational Shepherd and Leader: Builds strong community ties across demographics, balancing tradition with growth through collaborative leadership.
  • Servant-Hearted Visionary: Prioritizes pastoral care, outreach, and evangelism with Christlike humility, engaging both older and younger congregants effectively.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

Balboa Baptist Church seeks a Lead Pastor who will proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, uphold the inerrancy of Scripture, and shepherd the congregation with Christlike humility and vision. This person will love to be out and about in this active community. 

This role requires a Southern Baptist background, collaborative leadership within a committee-driven structure, and a passion for engaging people to find and follow Jesus. Located in Hot Springs Village, AR, the role involves serving a predominantly older congregation while welcoming younger families, championing the church’s mission, and cultivating its long-term growth.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Act as spiritual leader and overseer of the congregation carefully maintaining his own prayer life and close walk with the Lord led by the Holy Spirit.
  2. Lead and conduct the worship services; prepare and deliver sermons; lead in observance of the ordinances of the church.
  3. Work with church leaders, program directors, church committees, and the Church Council in the planning, training, conducting, and evaluation of church ministries.
  4. Act as the lead minister; serve as chief administrator of the paid church staff; supervise the work of the ministry staff organization, both lay and paid ministers, and directors.
