Student Pastor |  Job Description

Ministry Overview:  The Student Pastor is called by God to lead the church to make disciples of students (6^th– 12^th grade) by reaching, equipping, and reproducing students who disciple others.  In order to accomplish this task the student pastor and the church must partner with parents/guardians/schools to effectively build and sustain a student ministry intentionally making disciples.

Ministry Expectations:

Personal:

• The student pastor must demonstrate a vibrant devotional life by cultivating his personal relationship with God through regular daily Bible reading and prayer.
• The student pastor must fulfill his responsibilities to his family by being a godly husband to his wife and loving father to his children.
• The student pastor must be an example of evangelistic fervor to the church by intentionally building relationships with the unchurched and looking for opportunities to share the gospel.
• The student pastor must be an example to the church by practicing biblical stewardship of his finances in tithing and giving.

Leadership:

• The student pastor will shepherd students under his care by building relationships with them, understanding their world, and leading them to a relationship with Christ.
• The student pastor will faithfully teach the Word of God to the students under his ministry with passion, conviction, and clarity.
• The student pastor will build a team of adult student ministry volunteers by enlisting, equipping, and empowering them to minister to students.
• The student pastor will teach students to share their faith and provide platforms for them to do so through a regular evangelistic outreach and through other venues such as mission trips, etc.
• The student pastor will seek to build relationships with students, parents/guardians, school administrators/teachers/coaches, and people in the community in order to influence students in the area toward a vibrant relationship with Christ.

Administrative:

• In cooperation with the pastor, coordinate an overall student curriculum plan for the church, leading to properly sequenced, balanced, and comprehensive Christian discipleship for youth-aged students.
• Coordinate programming and events for students, for parents of students related to their parenting roles, and for parents and students combined, so that all may carry out the functions of the church together.
• The student pastor will work to assemble and direct a student ministry leadership team to provide an annual ministry plan and budget to the pastor and the ministry steering committee.
• Coordinate planning to ensure Christian students experience authentic worship personally, with the student group, and with the full church body.
• Coordinate student ministry communication and promotion plans in concert with ministry staff and ministry teams.
• Coordinate planning to ensure students experience true fellowship within the entire church family.

General:

• The student pastor will champion the vision and direction of the church.
• The student pastor will make hospital visits and other visits as assigned by the pastor.
• The student pastor will assist with ministry needs in the life of the church when needed.
• The student pastor will perform other duties not named above as asked or assigned by the pastor.
• The student pastor will carry himself in a manner consistent with the principles of Scripture and with that of the policies and procedures provided for the staff by the personnel committee of the church.
