DIRECTOR OF YOUTH MINISTRIES JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Scope
   1. The Director of Youth Ministries is responsible to the Pastor and will work with the youth committee in planning, coordinating, directing and evaluating the youth education ministry of the church. For purposes of this job description, “youth” is defined as those in 6^th-12^th  The youth committee should meet at least bimonthly and will be made up of seven people:  the Pastor, Director of Youth Ministries, 2 Parents of teens, 2 youth members and 1 deacon.
   2. The Director of Youth Ministries should at all times behave in a Biblically moral, ethical, professional and courteous manner.
   3. Should any situation arise, that cannot be resolved through open and honest communication, the personnel Committee will work with the Director of Youth Ministries and the Pastor in resolving any issue.

   1. An efficient level of expertise in the following skills is needed to perform the duties of the Director of Youth Ministries:
      1. Proclamation and Teaching of the Gospel

• Responsibilities
  1. The Director of Youth Ministries shall be responsible for the following, which shall include but not be limited to:
     1. Share his or her personal testimony of salvation, share Christ with youth, and encourage youth to develop their oral testimony and share it with others.
     2. Plan, lead and aspire to expand Youth Bible Study to cover basic areas of spiritual growth, including prayer, personal Bible study, outreach opportunities, etc.

• Teach youth Sunday School.

1. Have personal contact with youth and their families on a regular basis and especially in times of need.
2. Plan and lead special activities and at least bimonthly for youth, which would include activities that promote spiritual growth, mission opportunities and fun activities.
3. Use Godly wisdom and professional discretion when meeting with youth and especially if the situation should arise that would require meeting alone with a youth of the opposite sex.

• Work with individuals to settle differences and disagreements that affect their spiritual health and the overall health of the youth group.
• Be/become a member of Blackjack Baptist Church, teach youth Sunday School, attend Church Services, Youth activities, other church functions, help with VBS and encourage youth to attend and participate in services.

1. Create opportunities for youth to participate in worship services on occasion.
2. Work closely with the Pastor and attend scheduled staff meetings.
3. Serve as a member of the Church Council.

• Work with the Finance Committee to develop a budget for youth activities.
• Meet annually or as needed with the Pastor and personnel committee for review and input.
• Update leadership skills whenever possible by attending and participating in available seminars, training sessions, retreats, etc. and using new materials (after discussing with the pastor) as they become available.

   1. The Director of Youth Ministries is expected to fulfill the obligations of this position by performing the duties outlined above.

   1. Social Security is paid/withheld on employer/employee basis
   2. All taxes will be withheld according to law.
