The Worship Pastor position at Maplewood Baptist Church is a part-time, salaried position. The individual should have a calling to lead the church in worship and strive to bring excellence to any service. They are to work under the leadership and authority of the Senior Pastor and in close conjunction with the worship team, band and choir. They need to adhere to and be accountable to the Lord Jesus Christ, the church body, and the personnel committee.
Main Purpose: The Worship Pastor leads the church in worship ministry that will inspire and enhance the congregation's worship, engaging age groups with a variety of experiences to promote worship as a meaningful part of corporate and personal worship, bringing about spiritual growth.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and evaluate a comprehensive worship program that includes all age groups throughout the life of the church with hymns and contemporary music that are blended to form environments of worship.
- Work in tandem with the Senior Pastor to plan all services to support the message of the Gospel and a worship experience.
- Be responsible for finding and equipping leaders for the Worship team and choir in cooperation with the nominating committee.
- Commit to approximately 20 hours per week for planning and leading worship services weekly.
- Participate in additional ministerial duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
- Gather and distribute music to singers and musicians by means of physical copies or online.
Personal and Professional Qualifications:
- Must have saving faith in Jesus Christ, have a growing relationship with him and affirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
- Must not be a recent convert.
- Must be a person of high integrity and character in public and private.
- Be an ordained minister of the Gospel ministry.
- Must have experience in leading congregational worship in a church setting.
- Be able to read and perform music.
- Must be self-motivated to come up with a vision for the worship ministry, able to communicate it to the church and recruit others to accomplish that vision.
- Must be/become a member at Maplewood Baptist Church.
Administration:
- Prepare and recommend an annual worship budget to the Budget and Finance Committee.
- Manage the worship ministry budget by selecting and purchasing the needs of the ministry according to the budget and church policy.
Supervise the use and maintenance of the worship equipment and supplies, while also having knowledge of ProPresenter or willing to be taught and familiarity with social media
