Reports to:  Elders, specifically Connections and Care Pastor

Work Week:  Sunday through Thursday with flexible hours required and some hours sporadically on Friday and Saturdays when needed

 

Summary:  The Director of Children and Church Media will advance the mission of God locally and around the world by developing and overseeing a comprehensive ministry strategy to impact children from birth through 5th grade so that they will come to Christ and live for Christ.  As a director, he or she will primarily minister to children by planning ministry opportunities and then recruiting, equipping, and empowering a team of volunteers to teach, lead, and love children in the name of Christ.  The Director of Children and Church Media will also take the opportunity to regularly minister directly to children and parents when the need arises.  

 

In addition, the Director of Children and church Media will also oversee a church wide media strategy to spread the church’s teachings and to promote the church’s ministries through the church’s website, social media, signage, and other channels of distribution

 

Qualifications:

 

 

  • Education & Experience
    • A Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, ministry, or a related field is preferred
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role in a children’s ministry or similar setting

 

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • An understanding of Baptist doctrine and practices
    • Creative and imaginative, with the ability to see the world through the eyes of a child
    • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams of volunteers
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with children, parents, and volunteers
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans, set goals, and measure progress
    • Careful to develop, implement, and uphold safety standards for ministry 
    • Proficient in various computer software, base understanding of social media, and other technology tools to support ministry communication and management
    • Demonstrated desire for continued professional development

  • Children’s Ministry
    • Develop and oversee a comprehensive ministry to children from birth through 5th grade, including Sunday School, nursery during worship gatherings and other events, Sunday night ministries, Wednesday night ministries, Vacation Bible School, camps, and other events and activities, to help them come to know Christ and to grow in Christ
    • Evaluate and select or approve, in collaboration with the elders, published educational materials and resources in alignment with the church’s mission and theology that communicates biblical truths in a relatable and understandable manner
    • Create spaces and atmospheres in the children’s ministry area that appeal to children
    • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise a team of volunteers to support the ministry to children and their families
    • Participate in or plan opportunities to engage the local community for outreach to children and families
    • Strive to build a relationship with every child and parent that comes into the children’s ministry
    • Provide minsterial care and support to children and their families, including being available to listen to their concerns, pray with them, and provide a level of guidance
    • Develop, implement, and enforce child safety and protection policies to ensure a secure environment for all children participating in ministry activities
    • Communicate regularly with parents or guardians to keep them informed about upcoming events, curriculum, and their child’s progress and involvement in the ministry
    • Ensure that the children’s ministry area is well-supplied and resources are well managed
    • Develop and manage the children’s ministry budget, ensuring that resources are used effectively and efficiently

 

  • Church Media
    • Oversee and regularly update the church’s website
    • Edit and upload weekly media to the church’s website/Youtube page
    • Assist the elders as needed in producing media content
    • Maintain the lifestream hosting service and schedule weekly livestreams to the church’s website, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube
    • Post regular content to the church’s social media platforms
    • Oversee quality control and moderation of comments on all church and social media platforms

 

Additional Responsibilities:

 

  • Attend regular staff meetings and participate in church wide events and activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Elders
