First Baptist Church of Carterville is seeking a full-time Associate Pastor of Family Ministries.
Carterville, Illinois, is a small town of approximately 6,000 residents, situated within 1.5 to 4 hours from St. Louis, Nashville, Louisville, Lexington and Memphis. It is a growing community known for its excellence in education. First Baptist Church of Carterville has recently completed the construction of a new Sunday School wing and Community Connection Center that was built to help support and attract our growing community. Our church currently has approximately 400 members and generally averages 115 for Sunday School and 160 for the main worship service. With the streaming of online services and the ability to broadcast into overflow rooms, we have plenty of room for additional growth.
FBC has a passion to lead people to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, love them to belong to a family of faith, and disciple them to become His faithful followers. We currently have a Sunday morning worship service and Sunday school classes for all ages. We presently minister to families through Vacation Bible School, youth and children’s camps and an Awana Ministry which continues to lead multiple children to trust in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. FBC regularly participates in community outreach and has a desire to expand mission opportunities.
The Associate Pastor will serve alongside the Lead Pastor to provide vision and direction for the church. This position will seek to foster a culture of Biblical discipleship across the church body, with primary attention and oversight given to the ministries including kids, teenagers, and families. This position involves direct leadership in some areas of ministry, and oversight and support of other ministries.
Qualifications and Expectations:
- Possess a deep love for Jesus Christ and passion to serve the church and community.
- Clearly called to vocational ministry in a Southern Baptist Church.
- Affirm and agree with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
- Exemplifies the biblical requirements of a pastor as defined in 1 Timothy 3:1-10, Titus 1:5-16, and 1 Peter 5:1-2.
- Demonstrated ability to articulate biblical theology in a manner that is understandable and applicable for church members.
- Servant leader who exhibits strong communication skills (written & verbal) and collaboration to interact with the congregation, staff, and teams.
- A college degree and ordination in a Southern Baptist Church are preferred.
The salary will be determined after considering the applicant’s education and experience, with benefits including vacation and sick days.
