Eastwood Baptist Church of Bowling Green Kentucky is looking for a Pastor of Students for their Fairview Campus. Eastwood was founded in 1953 and has two campuses, the Fairview and Alvaton Campus. The Fairview Campus is located just minutes from downtown Bowling Green.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The PASTOR OF STUDENTS, under the direct leadership and direction of the direct supervisor, lead, and administrative pastors, will ensure that our vision and mission at Eastwood Baptist Church, “For the glory of God we are disciples who make disciples,” is pursued with clarity in the area of our student ministries. They will serve the church by organizing, leading, and evaluating a comprehensive ministry to students and their families.

QUALIFICATIONS

Spiritual:

  • Is a born-again believer having made a personal profession of faith in Jesus Christ, has been baptized by immersion as a believer, and evidences God’s call into full-time ministry.
  • Is in complete agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and all other doctrinal stances of EBC, including the EBC Staff Covenant.
  • Believes in and practices prayer, personal witnessing, and tithing (with the tithe being the beginning point of giving).
  • Gives evidence of unquestioned moral rectitude in relation to fellow humans, in honesty, and in speech.
  • Diligently promotes the spiritual fellowship and unity of the local church body.
  • Shows evidence of control by the Holy Spirit in all aspects of personal life and ministry.

Personal:

  • Has a love for Jesus Christ expressed in a love for the people of God and for the Bride of Christ.
  • Maintains a fresh and vital daily prayer and devotional life.
  • Possesses the ability to find a healthy balance between work and family responsibilities.
  • Sets boundaries to protect character and integrity, including adherence to the EBC Staff Standards.
  • Is deeply committed to personal, local, national, and global outreach/missions.
  • Is a strong, positive, resilient leader passionate about results and reliable in execution.
  • Can assess assumptions, implications, and practical consequences.
  • Understands and develops strategy while working hands-on to accomplish goals.
  • Demonstrates mature judgment, integrity, and well-developed leadership skills in making intelligent decisions and managing complex initiatives.  
  • Possesses the ability to diplomatically change the status quo, set expectations, and hold individuals under their supervision accountable for results and achievement of set goals.
  • Is committed to being a team player, taking interest in the spiritual growth of staff and volunteers.

The PASTOR OF STUDENTS will oversee, coordinate, plan, and ensure proper execution of all ministry related to students. Furthermore, they will constantly evaluate the student ministry to ensure proper alignment with the stated vision and mission of the church.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students in a local church setting.    
  • Bachelor’s degree education, student ministry, biblical studies, ministry or other related field.
  • Superior people skills and can interact easily with all demographics.
  • Is a proponent of team building and is a strong team player.
  • Possess the ability to utilize technology to create, communicate and collaborate with colleagues, church members and the community in an effort to successfully meet the requirements of this position. Technology includes but is not limited to: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Google Drive (sheets, slides), email, text, social media (Twitter, FaceBook, YouTube, etc..), REALM, LEADR and other online platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure proper volunteer staffing of student areas during ministry times of the church including, but not limited to, Sundays, mid-week and special events.
  • Organize and coordinate quality ministry or service opportunities for students during church-sponsored ministry events.
  • Recruit and develop lay leaders for the student ministry.
  • Develop/Implement a comprehensive plan for making and developing disciples within the student ministry of EBC.  
  • Provide leadership for student ministry campus and community groups, organized around the church’s commitment that “For the glory of God we are disciples who make disciples.”
  • May have global responsibilities.

General Staff Responsibilities: 

  • Serve in harmony with the total church staff.
  • Operate with a level of confidentiality required for both staff and church harmony.
  • Effectively and tactfully interact with church personnel, members, and the general public in a manner consistent with the stated purpose and core values of the church.
  • Participate in staff meetings
  • Work cooperatively with all church leaders for the purpose of the overall good health of the total church life.  
  • Be professional and conduct themselves according to the policies and procedures of the Personnel Handbook.
  • Attend and actively participate in weekly 1:1 meeting with direct supervisor for development, assistance in the removal of barriers, goal setting and establishing priorities (in accordance with Staff Standards).

Other Responsibilities:

  • Participation in EBC’s International Mission and Local Mission Ministry (IMPACT).
  • Attend weekly staff prayer meetings and senior staff meetings.
  • Maintain a level of confidentiality required for both staff and church harmony.
  • Participate in “all hands-on deck” events for EBC throughout the year (Fall Festival, Vacation Bible School, strategic school partnerships, IMPACT Week, Summer Camp, etc.)
  • Participate in the preaching or teaching ministry as time allows during the year.
